AWCP is proud to announce that we have completed the pilot launch of our Period Poverty Project in collaboration with longtime community service partner Bukas Palad Foundation and reusable sanitary napkins brand EcoPad Gaia.

We were joined by residents from Makati Medical Center along with Community Service Co-Chairs, Dr. Lynn Butler and Margie Go, President Denise Faulhaber, and Social Media Co-Chair Alex Go. The residents led an informative session titled Usapang Dalaga ("Girl Talk" in Tagalog), which taught attendees about healthy feminine and menstrual health practices while debunking common myths about our periods. Attendees were encouraged to participate in the discussion and given prizes for questions asked and correct answers given in the quiz portion of the presentation.

After the lecture, each participant was given a pack of six reusable pads to take home and try. We also had a short video from EcoPad Gaia founder Adeline Bondoc introducing the pads and showing how to wash and care for them. We hope that these pads can help them manage their periods in a healthy, sustainable, and dignified way.

Months in the making, we are so glad to have been able to complete this first event! Thank you to our partners, volunteers, and Community Service who made this possible. This is only the first of more outreaches to come, so stay tuned for opportunities to get involved!
